ZLATAN & VISA against FOMO

A campaign showing fans an alternative way to get to the FIFA World Cup™.

The insight was simple: no matter where you are in the world, no one wants to miss a World Cup moment. Visa's fast contactless payments and exclusive FIFA partnership access meant fans could stay in the action instead of waiting in line.

 
 

Visa teamed up with football legend Zlatan Ibrahimović to tackle FOMO head-on. Even though he'd retired from international football, Zlatan kept hinting at a comeback for the tournament in Russia with strong performances and cryptic comments. Would he play? Would he warm the bench? The speculation went on for months before Sweden announced their roster.

Visa made Zlatan the face of their global campaign, launching it on Instagram where he could speak directly to his 31 million followers about his own FIFA FOMO.

Visa and Zlatan launched a series of online films and 30-second spots demonstrating to fans that even Zlatan could overcome FIFA FOMO. Through the release of a film, Visa staged a press conference announcing his return to the world stage and showed the larger-than-life figure using Visa's contactless technology throughout the tournament, demonstrating the ease and access Visa can provide.

Besides the awareness part of the launch and the image campaign, we have also developed a national promo where one could win the unique Visa payment ring.
